Faith / Spirituality
Life is a constant spiritual battle. In so many ways, the choices we make will impact our mental health. Our anxieties will increase if we make sinful choices, or even just dwell on the wrong things.
It shouldn’t surprise us then to see sections of scripture like the following:
…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Philippians 4:6–8 (ESV)
However, please don’t treat these verses as some magical cure. Having a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, and focusing on His glory are not guaranteed cures for the anxious heart. They will go long way, but so much more is involved.
